This past week, I was reflecting on the Pharisee’s question to Jesus about the greatest commandment; from there, I found myself diving deep into the question of what might be the Bible’s most vital truth. It didn’t take long for clarity and revelation to wash over me, and today, I’m excited to share three powerful ways this truth transforms our lives!

With Easter week upon us, you can’t help but notice the theme of resurrection popping up everywhere. It’s like all of Heaven is echoing this profound message! While seeking the Lord, one statement resonated with me all week long: Paul’s powerful declaration in Philippians 3:10: “I want to know Him and the power of His resurrection.” This is the ratification and fulfillment of the New Covenant – “Resurrection.”

Please don’t misunderstand me; I am overflowing with gratitude for everything Jesus has done! He lived a sinless life, was beaten, mocked, shamed, forsaken, and went to the cross for me, and yet, without the resurrection, all of it would be meaningless!

It’s the resurrection that truly flips the script! Paul drove this point home in 1 Corinthians when he said, if Jesus were still in the grave, our faith would be in vain – and we’d be left stranded without hope. But because He conquered death and ascended to Heaven, everything changes!

So, what does this resurrection mean for those of us who are in Christ? Here are three powerful ways resurrection impacts our lives:

  • His Resurrection: According to Paul, Jesus is the firstborn among many brothers. He triumphed over death, hell, and the grave, giving us the same victory! It signifies everything written before and spoken during His ministry was true! The life of Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies, and the resurrection confirmed Him as Savior! The resurrection is essential to our faith, the final step of ratification for the new covenant, and the event that made everything possible! It solidifies our hope in Christ and His promises. Abundant Kingdom Life is ours today because He lives!

  • Our Eternal Resurrection: It assures us that we will rise in eternal life after this life, just as He arose. When we receive Jesus as our savior, the power of resurrection guarantees our place in the eternal family of God! It is the point at which we step into the endless destiny for which we were created. His resurrection means the beginning of our journey of ruling and reigning with God forevermore! There’s an incredible and unshakeable hope in that promise!

  • Our Resurrection Today: Resurrection isn’t just about the future; it’s about an abundant Kingdom life in the here and now! When John came preaching that the Kingdom of God is at hand, he meant here and now! When Jesus told us that the Kingdom of God is within us, He meant here and now! When we accept Him, we receive a right now resurrection! Paul said it this way: we have died, been buried with Christ in baptism, and have been raised to live new lives with him today! Each day, we can experience the power of resurrection in our lives as it has freed us to shed old habits, fears, and doubts, allowing God’s transformative power to change us inside and out!

I invite you to join me in embracing the power of this truth! Like Paul, let’s count all things lost and strive to lay hold of that for which He has laid hold of us so that we might REALLY KNOW HIM and THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION! This Easter, let us celebrate the resurrection not just as an event but as an ongoing journey of relationship that, by grace, empowers our faith and fills our lives with hope!
