How do you view your life in light of your salvation? Do you see yourself as someone who is saved but still struggling with sin, feeling the need to work harder to be a better Christian? Many believers fall into the trap of thinking they need to do better and work harder. They believe they will never fully measure up to the life and ministry God has called them to.

If our thoughts align with those above, we are undervaluing the grace of God in the precious blood of Jesus. When He said, “It is finished,” it was finished. Because of that completed work on the cross, all who believe receive the power to become children of God—a complete and new creation in Him! That finished work is within us, and our responsibility is to let it manifest through our lives in surrender(Phil 2:12).

It is vital that we get our minds right (transformed) about who we have become. I knew a wise man who once said there are only two types of people: saints and ain’ts. If you are in Christ, you have become the righteousness of God—a saint! The blood of Jesus has covered you and provided everything you need. You carry God’s life (zoe) within you, and He definitely ain’t no sinner!

A mindset of unbelief and doubt prevents us from living out our true identity on a daily basis. This mindset is not really a lack of faith but a way of thinking that undermines our faith. Jesus said that even faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains. That tiny seed of faith brought us into the Kingdom by grace. Doubt and unbelief rob us of the blessings and power our faith is intended to manifest in our lives.

Doubt and unbelief lead to a hardening of the heart. This hardness of heart comes by entertaining the wrong voice, as Eve did during her conversation with the serpent. Such thoughts are not worth contemplating! If what you hear in your heart about yourself doesn’t align with what the Father declares about you, turn from it at once!

Receiving His Word with an open heart cultivates faith and allows His finished work to manifest in and through us. That is grace! Ephesians 2:8-9 states, “It is by grace you have been saved through faith.” The Greek verb tense here means that it is an ongoing process. We have been, are being, and will be saved by grace and through faith. The word through here means all the way across from one side of faith to the other side of faith! A completed act! A finished work through faith!

We walk by faith, not by sight. According to Paul in Romans 14, everything that is not of faith is sin. Our identity as people of faith means we must continually listen to what He says, receive it, and allow that to grow the faith that leads us to walk in all He has prepared for us. This is the rest spoken of in Hebrews 3. It all revolves around His finished work! We are to cease from ours and enter into His!

We are the result of our Savior’s perfect sacrifice! We are not just “old sinners saved by grace”; we are children of the Most High God—redeemed, righteous, holy, and world-changing champions of the King! Everything necessary for life and godliness has been given to us through faith. Now that you know it, you ought to begin to act like it! Be mindful of your thoughts and words— agree, speak, and think what He says about you. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!
